Outreach

Outreach

Community and education outreach is at the core of who we are. We’re passionate about investing in workforce development to help students make decisions and transition between high school, tech school, and engineering school levels. We endeavor to support similar outreach missions of our clients, by helping them engineer the best possible facilities to support current and incoming generations of changemakers.

Middle School and High School

KFI works with communities and school districts to help their buildings function better, it is also important to us to support the missions inside those buildings.

KFI employees welcome opportunities to engage new generations of problem solvers and encourages young people to examine careers in science, engineering, and the construction fields.

Opportunities include:

  • Career speakers and presentations
  • Women in STEM events
  • Job shadow programs
  • College exploration trips
  • Transportation programs to help children get to school
  • Mock interviews
  • Career development events

Cristo Rey Corporate Work Study Program

KFI has partnered with the Cristo Rey Jesuit High School as part of their Corporate Work Study (CWS) program, providing professional on-site job experience to student associates for all four years of high school. The goal of Cristo Rey’s CWS program is to break down the socioeconomic and cultural barriers that often inhibit the future success of individuals.

Technical School

KFI has been connecting with high schools and technical schools to provide career path speakers. To date, KFI has engaged several high school and tech school partners, showcasing four-year engineering degree paths, as well as two-year tech degree paths to the industry.

College of Engineering

KFI Engineers has sponsored two faculty positions for a focused curriculum on the generation, storage, transportation, and conservation of thermal and electrical energy. The program is designed to produce graduates with a very high skill level in the fundamentals of these principles in both conventional and renewable energy fields.

Additionally, KFI’s engineers participate in STEM panels, judging at University events, and assisting students with engineering projects.
