Dave’s dad was in construction and, growing up, he was able to work with him and learn by his side. He began working as building custodian for a school district and was presented an opportunity to serve as Facilities Property Manager for YMCA facilities in Fargo. It was there he met KFI President, Jim Faulconbridge, who was a member of the Building and Grounds Committee, and David joined the KFI team shortly after to assist with troubleshooting systems and building inventories.

A lead commissioning authority for over 23 years, Dave performs building commissioning and retro-commissioning projects, while providing existing mechanical system evaluations for renovation projects and acting as a construction manager for many mechanical-intensive construction projects. He is an expert with pneumatic and direct digital control temperature controls and spends most of his days in the field performing system checkouts, equipment troubleshooting, training, and O&M reviews for KFI’s commissioning and design projects.

He has a “roll up the sleeves and dig in” approach and enjoys troubleshooting facilities that are having mechanical issues – finding it rewarding to identify and correct the root cause of building issues.

“Most people spend more time and energy going around problems than in trying to solve them.” - Henry Ford
