After breezing through math and science back in high school and seeing how her father enjoyed the hands-on, multi-discipline aspect of the construction business, Maria decided to pursue a career in engineering. She spent a year after college trying out industrial conveyor design in Morris, MN, then moved to the Twin Cities and accepted a job at KFI, which she chose for the quality of work, fast-paced commercial design environment, and collaborative culture.
Maria has participated in all areas of construction, from pre-design, value engineering, and estimating, to construction administration. She is well-versed in understanding the project’s risks and rewards from the perspective of an owner and design professional. She thrives on the fast-paced work environment, and variety of projects – and embraces the unique challenges renovations often present.
Maria has 15 years of mechanical engineering experience in HVAC and plumbing design. Her background includes commercial, government, higher education, industrial, and healthcare facilities. She’s a licensed professional engineer in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
She spends her free time with her husband and two young children. They love being outdoors on family hikes and bike rides, enjoying the many trails the metro has to offer. They head to the lake on summer weekends, staying at the family cabin, fishing, and tubing. An avid volleyball player, Maria still finds time for matches weekly.
