KFI Engineers recently partnered on the newly-expanded LEED headquarters to the Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP). 

This project, which opened it’s doors in April, incorporated many innovative, sustainable design features, including:

  • LEED Gold Certification, currently pursuing LEED Platinum
  • Photovoltaic and solar thermal panels on 60% of the roof
  • Geothermal system installed under a wetland that will result in an estimated 60-70% energy savings
  • Greywater drip irrigation system, which is the first of its kind in MN
  • Rainwater collection system with storage capacity of over 55,000 gallons
  • Low flow plumbing fixtures which reduce water use by over 38%

KFI provided the engineering for this full service project, which included, energy and daylight modeling, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, lighting, life safety, AV, fire protection, and communications design. KFI also provided commissioning services.
