Last week, we joined over 400 students, families, community members, and special guests to celebrate the official opening of Mary E. Britton Middle School in Lexington, KY.
The new two-story facility will be the largest middle school in Fayette County with 1,200 students and 172,000 square feet of building area. The building is designed to accommodate an academy concept and includes flex spaces, facilities for an agricultural program and future greenhouse, inclusive restrooms, a performance stage, musical suite, traditional gymnasium, cafeteria, media center, office, classroom spaces, and storm shelter. The building’s heating and cooling are provided by a geothermal system for energy efficiency.
