Precision at Every Level: Commissioning the Richard M. Schulze Surgical and Critical Care Center

Challenge

In order to better meet the needs of their community, the Allina Health Abbott Northwestern Hospital near downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, constructed a new 10-story, 660,000-square-foot hospital addition, including a new main entrance, a state-of-the-art surgery center, expanded inpatient services, and all supporting mechanical systems. The project also includes approximately 192,000 square feet of renovations to create floor-to-floor connections with the existing hospital.

Approach

KFI completed design and submittal reviews for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems listed below. Commissioning site visits were ongoing throughout the project to inspect system installations and witness the manufacturer’s startup of HVAC equipment.
