Challenge

The Mariposa Land Port of Entry required expansion to accommodate increased volumes of privately-owned vehicles (POV), pedestrian and commercial traffic, and to meet new environmental, inspection, and security guidelines.

Approach

KFI performed commissioning services on the following systems: HVAC, controls, plumbing, fire protection, electrical power distribution, emergency power distribution, lighting controls, fire alarm, security, communication, building enclosure, and renewable energy systems. These same systems were subject to inspection, point-to-point, as well as operational and functional testing. KFI additionally performed a thorough design review.

Outcome

The new port of entry has achieved a LEED® Gold rating through a combination of substantial photovoltaic installation, solar domestic hot water system, advanced lighting, and building automation system with diagnostics. KFI also considered other systems that the owner planned to implement in the future to ensure continual system adaptability and performance.
