The HVAC system serving the St. Croix County Health and Human Services building was experiencing issues maintaining environmental conditions in portions of the building during the heating season. Once an investigation revealed the underlying issues, a mechanical and electrical design strategy was developed to correct them.
The best value option was to replace the rooftop air handling unit with a new variable volume unit capable of improving cooling and heating staging, and to revise the existing air distribution system. Additional recommendations included designing an additional 25+ variable air volume units, controls, new ductwork, as well as a new boiler and pumps.
Post-construction commissioning confirmed that the systems were operating properly and the county’s issues had been fully ameliorated.
